Oscar-Shortlisted ‘Last Film Show’ Lines Up French Theatrical Run (EXCLUSIVE)

Pan Nalin's Gujarati-language drama 'Last Film Show' (Chhello Show) is heading to French cinemas this June after being acquired by Friday Entertainment from Studiocanal. The film, which served as India's official entry for the 95th Academy Awards and made the shortlist for the International Feature Film category, will be released under the title 'La Dernière Séance.' This move reflects the growing international appetite for Indian art-house cinema following the film's success at festivals in Tribeca and Valladolid.

The India-France co-production is described as a 'heartfelt love letter to cinema,' and its French release will span over 100 screens. Studiocanal and Friday Entertainment are leveraging the film's strong critical pedigree to attract French audiences who traditionally favor masterfully crafted, emotionally resonant international features. This acquisition marks a significant expansion for Friday Entertainment into the art-house market, moving beyond their typical slate of larger-scale Indian 'mass entertainers.'
