The Cannes Film Festival's Marché du Film is set to host a high-level Japan IP market this May, in collaboration with the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFFCOM). The event will serve as a strategic hub for international companies to explore leading Japanese intellectual property across cinema, animation, and publishing. This initiative coincides with Japan being named the '2026 Country of Honor' at the market, reflecting the country's status as a global powerhouse for innovative content.
Key IP holders, including Kadokawa and Toei Company, will participate in pitch sessions and one-on-one meetings on the Art Explora catamaran at Cannes' Vieux-Port. A highlight of the program will be a keynote seminar on the future of Japanese IP in global adaptations, led by Tetsu Fujimura, the executive producer of the 'One Piece' live-action series. This partnership aims to foster new creative and industrial ties between Japan and the international film community, particularly highlighting the strong creative relationship between Japan and France.
